Yorick Goldewijk

Yorick Goldewijk (1979) is currently one of the most popular children’s authors in the country. He composed music for advertisements, films and games and made his debut as an author in 2019 with the adventure Billy Extra Plankgas for children aged 8 and up, followed by a sequel one year later.

He collaborated with his wife, illustrator Yvonne Lacet, to create the picture book Hier zijn draken, which has been published in Spanish, Korean and Italian. He won the Gouden Griffel for the best children’s book of the year 2022 for Films die nergens draaien (Movies Showing Nowhere), a bold and imaginative story that also transcends time and space. Becoming an instant classic, it has been translated into 13 languages and was named The Times and Sunday Times Children’s Book of the Year (2024) and winner of the Openbook Award for Best Children’s Book (Taiwan). A Thousand & I (2023) is his first YA book.

De boom die een wereld was (2024), illustrated by Jeska Verstegen and winner of Ludoq, the award for best philosophy book for children, contains myriad enchanting stories about animals that live around the same tree . Albatros (2025) received critical acclaim and was translated into English and German.
