Yvonne Jagtenberg

Yvonne Jagtenberg (b. 1967) became known to pre-schoolers and their parents with her quirky and independent picture-book heroes Balotje and Herman, characters with a tough and infectious contrary nature. She trained as a teacher before going to study at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten, an art school in Arnhem.

Children's books

Jagtenberg started work as an artist and soon chose to work in the field of children’s books. she received the Charlotte Köhler Stipendium for her oeuvre and participated in Dutch Treats at the Eric Carle Museum in New York in 2006. In 2019 and 2020, she won the Gouden Penseel two years in succession, the top Dutch prize for the best illustrated book.
