Who we are

The Dutch Foundation for Literature has the task of supporting writers and translators, and of promoting Dutch literature abroad. The foundation invests in the quality and diversity of literature through grants for writers, translators, publishers and festivals, and contributes to the production and distribution of Dutch and Frisian literature at home and abroad.

Open call: Residency for Writers in Amsterdam

Since 2006, the Dutch Foundation for Literature has welcomed foreign authors to the Spui in Amsterdam as writers in residence. Dozens of writers from all over the world have been inspired by this fascinating spot at the heart of the city. Foreign authors can apply for a stay at the Spui residency in 2025 until September 1st 2024.

Carys Davies writer in residence in Amsterdam

Welsh writer Carys Davies will be staying at the Amsterdam Writers Residency from July 2nd to August 11th, upon invitation by the Dutch Foundation for Literature.

Dirk Vis new writer-in-residence at NIAS

Writer and poet Dirk Vis is selected for the writer-in-residence fellowship at The Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study (NIAS), on behalf of the Dutch Foundation for Literature. During the fellowship Dirk Vis will work on a project combining historical, biological and anthropological sources with insights from indigenous worldviews and artistic research.

The Netherlands and Flanders Guests of Honour Gothenburg Book Fair 2027

Gothenburg Book Fair proudly unveils its latest prestigious Guests of Honour for the 2027 edition of the Book Fair: Flanders and the Netherlands. With the Leipzig Book Fair having recently highlighting this vibrant region, the organisers of Gothenburg Book Fair are thrilled to introduce it to a Nordic audience, a couple of years ahead. The announcement, made at Leipzig Book Fair, was accompanied by the presence of Book Fair Director Frida Edman, who participated in a signing event.
