Who we are

The Dutch Foundation for Literature has the task of supporting writers and translators, and of promoting Dutch literature abroad. The foundation invests in the quality and diversity of literature through grants for writers, translators, publishers and festivals, and contributes to the production and distribution of Dutch and Frisian literature at home and abroad.

Chiara Nardo receives Translation Talent Prize 2026

Chiara Nardo (1976) receives the Dutch Foundation for Literature's Translation Talent Prize 2026, for her exceptional translations from Dutch into Italian. She was selected by the jury from a strong field of twenty nominees, all of whom are distinguished by the high quality of their work and who contribute in various ways to the field of literary translation from Dutch. Chiara Nardo will receive the prize on the 26th of June during the Literaire Vertaaldagen, an annual event for literary translators in and from Dutch.

Lynthia Julius new Writer in Residence in Amsterdam

From June 8 to June 30, 2026, South African poet Lynthia Julius will be staying as writer in residence in Amsterdam, upon invitation by the Dutch Foundation for Literature and Poetry International, where she has performed during the annual poetry festival.

The Netherlands Makes History as First Guest of Honour at Paris Book Market

We look back at a highly successful Dutch focus at the Paris Book Market (June 4–5). Organized by the Dutch Foundation of Literature and the Embassy of the Netherlands in France, this initiative marked the country’s debut as the book market's very first Guest of Honour. The program highlighted the strength of international literary exchange.

Georgi Gospodinov new writer in residence in Amsterdam

Bulgarian writer Georgi Gospodinov will be staying as writer in residence in Amsterdam from April 16th until May 17th, upon invitation by the Dutch Foundation for Literature.
