Huub Beurskens
Huub Beurskens (b. 1950) studied at the academy of arts in Tilburg, and later taught drawing and history of art in Amsterdam. He has written several collections of poems, stories, and essays, as well as several novels.
About the Author
For his collection Hollandse wei en andere gedichten (Dutch Meadow and Other Poems, 1990) he was awarded the Herman Gorter Award; in 1995 he won the prestigious VSB Poetry Prize for Aangod en de afmens (1994). Iets zo eenvoudigs (Something So Simple, 1995) was shortlisted for the same prize one year later and won the Jan Campert Prize. Autumn 1997 saw the publication of Bange natuur (Frightened Nature), Beurskens’ collected poetry until now, including a new, previously unpublished volume, followed in 1999 by Een hemd in de wind (A Shirt In The Wind), in 2003 by Zang en verdoving (Song and Stupefaction) and in 2004 by Als met een vogeltje (As With A Bird).
