Four-year grants for literary organisations
Please note: this scheme will reopen in 2028. Under this scheme, literary organisations may apply for a multi-year organisational grant. Through this scheme, the Dutch Foundation for Literature aims to promote the development and quality of literary culture and infrastructure. Priority will be given to organisations that help to broaden the literary offering outside the Randstad, contributing to a more balanced regional distribution.

What is it for?
As an organisation, you are free to determine which core activities or roles are appropriate to your work. These may include a literary festival, a presentation venue, a production house or an organisation focused on professional talent development.
Who is eligible?
You are eligible to apply for this organisational grant if, as a literary organisation, you contribute to the development and quality of literary culture. An organisation must have carried out literary activities for at least three years, have an annual operating budget of at least €150,000 (based on the reference year 2022) and have previously received a grant from the Dutch Foundation for Literature of €40,000 or more. In addition to having regional or urban significance, you are expected to contribute to a diverse and nationally oriented literary infrastructure.
Grant amount
There are two grant categories, based on the organisation’s total income:
Category A
Organisations with total income exceeding €600,000 (based on the 2022 annual accounts) are eligible for an annual grant of between €200,000 and €300,000.
Category B
Organisations with total income of between €150,000 and €600,000 (based on the 2022 annual accounts) are eligible for an annual grant of between €65,000 and €150,000.
Application requirements
For information on the application procedure and the required format (including word limits, page limits and the structure of the budget), please consult the application document (see downloads).
Required attachments: Application document, Multi-year plan 2025-2028, budget and quantitative activity overview 2025-2028, detailed budget for 2025-2026, organisational structure, annual accounts and annual reports for 2021 and 2022, recent extract from the Chamber of Commerce register, and Articles of Association.
You must also complete the sustainability questionnaire; this does not form part of the assessment.
During the grant period, you are expected to continue working towards the implementation of the Code for Diversity and Inclusion, the Fair Practice Code and the Cultural Governance Code within your organisation. You must explain the steps you will take to achieve your objectives for 2025-2028 in these three areas.
In addition to applying these codes, consideration will also be given to balanced regional distribution. Organisations that contribute to broadening the literary offering outside the Randstad will be given priority.
