Jacques Vriens

Jacques Vriens (b. 1946) is one of the most popular children’s writers in the Netherlands. He was the headmaster of a primary school for almost twenty years and has always worked hard to make children excited about books. In 2013, he became the first Dutch Children’s Book Ambassador. He has won two Zilveren Griffels, for Zondagmorgen (1979) and Tinus-in-de-war (1991), and his book Achtste-groepers huilen niet (1999), which has been translated into Danish, German and Norwegian, was made into a film in 2012.
