Jaap Goudsmit is Professor of Poverty-related Infectious Diseases at the Academic Medical Centre of the University of Amsterdam, and is the scientific director of the biotech company Crucell. He is also a member of the International aids Vaccine Initiative (IAVA), the most important NGO currently working on an aids vaccine. In 1997, he published Viral Sex. The Nature of AIDS.
