Sieb Posthuma

Illustrator and author Sieb Posthuma (1960 - 2014) began his career with illustrations for newspapers and magazines, and went on to create book covers and children’s books. He made his writing debut with books about his dog Rintje, which he both wrote and illustrated. In 2002, he won the ‘Penseel’ jury’s incentive prize for the first book in this series.
Posthuma also designed the set and costumes for a Dutch National Ballet production of Coppelia. In 2009, he won the Golden Paint Brush for Boven in een groene linde zat een moddervette haan (Up in a Green Lime Tree Sat a Big, Fat Rooster). In 2012, he won the same award once again for the illustrations he created to accompany Annie M.G. Schmidt’s poems in Een vijver vol inkt (published in English as A Pond Full of Ink, with translations by David Colmer). His work has been published in America, Japan, Brazil, Italy, Denmark and Germany.
