Marente de Moor wins EU Prize for Literature

This morning at the Frankfurt Book Fair Marente de Moor was announced the winner of the European Union Prize for Literature 2014 for her second novel The Dutch Maiden (De Nederlandse maagd), published by Querido.

Previously this book was awarded the AKO Literature Prize 2011, one of the most important literature prizes in the Netherlands.

The award ceremony for the European Union Prize for Literature will take place on November 18th in Brussels.

70.000 copies were sold of bestselling The Dutch Maiden (Querido). Die niederländische Jungfrau, the German translation by Helga van Beuningen was published by Suhrkamp and supported by the Dutch Foundation for Literature.
