A talk with Alain Van Crugten & Tom Lanoye

Tuesday February 11, Alain van Crugten and Tom Lanoye will talk about the relationship between authors and their translators and the ingredients of a successful literary translation at Flemish-Dutch House deBuren in Brussels. Van Crugten has recently won the Prix Phares du Nord for his French translation of Lanoye’s Sprakeloos (Speechless).

The [Prix des Phares du Nord][1] is a bi-annual award for the best French translation of an important Dutch-language work. The prize is offered by the Dutch Foundation for Literature and the [Flemish Literature Fund][2]. The jury, Bertrand Abraham, Danielle Bourgois and Margot Dijkgraaf, selected La Langue de ma mère (La Différence, 2011) as the winner of 2013.

The Prix des Phares du Nord 2013 will be awarded to [Alain van Crugten][3] in the residency of the Dutch ambassador in Paris.
