Writer in Residence Programme 2008
Florence Noiville is WIR in Amsterdam
1 October 2008 - 31 January 2009
Florence Noiville trades her home town of Paris for the Dutch capital this autumn. Hopefully, in Amsterdam she will find the concentration to sow the seeds for a second novel. She will be our guest for three months, from October 2008 until January 2009.
Florence Noiville (1961) is a French journalist and deputy editor-in-chief at Le Monde des Livres. She specialized in American literature and in 2003 published Isaac B. Singer (biography prize) with Stock publishing. She has also authored more than a dozen children’s books, most of them focusing on ancient Greek mythology.
La donation (Stock, 2007) is her first adult novel, a genre she will explore further in the future. A woman is called to a notary’s office to accept an inheritance and is confronted with painful memories dating from her childhood. It appears that hereditary illnesses of the soul are not free of tax either.
