24 March 2022

Writer Tobi Lakmaker is interviewed in the sixth episode of Kopje Koffie, the German book podcast on literature from the Low Countries. With Bettina Baltschev he talks about his first novel De geschiedenis van mijn seksualiteit (Das Mag), which has recently been translated by Christina Brunnenkamp for Piper Verlag under the title Die Geschichte meiner Sexualität.

The History of my Sexuality

Sofie, a young Amsterdam woman, talks about her chaotic life, which is dominated by her search for her sexuality and identity. The result is a fresh and funny story of the space between femininity and masculinity.

In addition, the death of Lakmaker’s mother is discussed. She was buried on his 25th birthday, which for him meant a farewell and a new beginning in one.
