The Vondel Translation Prize will be awarded on Wednesday February 12th at the The British Library Knowledge Centre in London. Four translators of Dutch and Flemish literature have been nominated by the jury: David Doherty for Monte Carlo by Peter Terrin (MacLehose Press), Antoinette Fawcett for Bird Cottage by Eva Meijer (Pushkin Press), Nancy Forest-Flier for The Story of Shit by Midas Dekkers (Text Publishing), and Michele Hutchison for Stage Four by Sander Kollaard (Amazon Crossing).
The awards ceremony is organized by the Society of Authors, in cooperation with the Dutch Foundation for Literature and other organisations. A total of thirty-five translations from nine languages have been nominated for seven shortlists. They are stunning translations into English from Dutch, German, French, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, and Hebrew.
