Cees Nooteboom wins international poetry prize

Dutch author Cees Nooteboom has won the Premio Internazionale Elena Violani – Landi, the international literary prize from the poetry centre of the University of Bologna. The prize was awarded to Nooteboom at the opening ceremony of the Oven Poetry Festival in Bologna in Italy on Wednesday 6 June. The prize money awarded with the prize is € 6.000

Cees Nooteboom is a writer of novels, travel stories, and essays. In 2012 he published his first full-fledged poetry collection with Licht overal (De Bezige Bij). The Italian translation of the collection by Fulvio Ferrari was published in 2016 as Luce ovunque (2012-1964) with publishing house Einaudi.

The Premio Internazionale Elena Violani - Landi was awarded to Nooteboom during the first day of the Oven Festival in Bologna. There were speeches and poetic readings by prof. of Dutch literature Marco Prandoni (University of Bologna) and Dutch reader Herman van der Heide.
