Between 4 and 10 October, the thirteenth edition of the Festival Tuttestorie will take place in Cagliari, on the Italian island Sardinia. The festival is one of the most important events of the year in Italy in the field of children’s and youth literature and offers a wide international programme. At the festival the Dutch author Guus Kuijer will be present to promote Madelief - Lanciare le bambole (Daisy’s new head), the Italian translation by Valentina Freschi for Camelozampa publishers.

Guus Kuijer (b. 1942) is one of the Netherlands’ most popular writers for both children and adults. Daisy’s new head (Met de poppen gooien1975, Querido) is Guus Kuijer’s first children’s book and the first part of the _Madelief _series, with which countless children have grown up. The book was awarded a Golden Slate Pencil in 1976.

He wrote four more books in the Madelief series after Daisy’s new head, the fourth part of which was once again awarded a Golden Slate Pencil. The series was published bundled in 1983 as Het grote boek van Madelief (The great book of Madelief). Guus Kuijer has won numerous major awards, in 2012 he was the first Dutch author to receive the prestigious Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award for his children’s writing.
