Tangram Cat wins Golden Paintbrush

26 September 2017

The Golden Paintbrush 2017, the most important Dutch prize for an illustrator of children’s and young adult literature, goes to Martijn van der Linden for Tangram Cat. The book’s author Maranke Rinck has already won a Silver Slate Pencil for her part in this remarkable collaboration.

Tangram Cat will be translated into Catalan, Chinese, English, French and Spanish. The Dutch Foundation for Literature presented a stand with larger-than-life illustrations taken from Tangram Cat at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair earlier this year (see photo).

Works by Dutch illustrator Martijn van der Linden (b. 1979) have been published in more than twelve countries and received numerous awards. He and children’s author Maranke Rinck (b. 1976) have been working together since 2004. Their previous titles include The Other Rabbit (translated by Laura Watkinson) and I Feel a Foot!, both published by Lemniscaat USA.
