From 6 to 10 September, the seventh edition of the Open Book Festival takes place in Cape Town. During this festival there are more than 140 acts to choose from, and both South African authors and international authors will perform. Dutch poets Akwasie, Dean Bowen and Sjaan Flikweert are also on the program.
Spoken word poet Dean Bowen received a subsidy to cover travel expenses from the Dutch Foundation for Literature.
Dean Bowen is a poet, performer and actor. His poems have been published by webiste Hard//Hoofd and magazine nY. Known for his powerful performances he has been invited to such festivals as Poetry International Festival Rotterdam, Read My World and Dichters in de Prinsentuin. He is the first Van Dale SPOKEN Award winner in the category ‘poetry’.
