In August French writer Julia Deck (1974) will be working and living as a writer-in-residence in Amsterdam, upon invitation of the Dutch Foundation for Literature.
Julia Deck studied Literature at the Sorbonne University in Paris and worked in the world of the press and publishing. She debuted in 2012 with the novel Viviane Élisabeth Fauville at Éditions de minuit. The book was well received in France. The Dutch translation (by Lidewij van den Berg and Katrien Vandenberghe), was published last year at Uitgeverij Vleugels and is currently nominated for the European Literature Price 2017. It is a sharp and extremely intriguing debut novel in which the confusion of the 42-year-old, recently given birth, protagonist gets under your skin.
In 2014 followed her next novel Le Triangle d’hiver, and Decks third novel Sigma will be published this summer. On Sunday morning August 27 Julia Deck will be interviewed by Margot Dijkgraaf in Athenaeum Boekhandel, more information can be found here.
