Deep down, she hates the things girls are meant to like. Besides, she can’t even dance. But when a spot turns up in ‘Kaas4’, the popular girl group led by her best friend Cato, Pip knows she has no other choice but to become a band member. She practises day and night for the auditions, so that she can keep hanging out with her best friend and be seen as one of the popular girls at school.
But when a new boy joins Pip’s class, she slowly starts to doubt whether those truths really are so true after all. Benjamin isn’t a zebra; he’s more like a unicorn. He reads during break, doesn’t like football and loves wearing glitter and bright colours. He’s the opposite of popular, but because he loves singing and dancing, he knows how to help Pip with her auditions.
The upbeat diary entries and whimsical drawings of Pip and the Truth about Unicorns show readers how important it is to follow your heart and be who you are. Pip and the Truth about Unicorns is the children’s book debut by columnist and graphic novelist Renske de Greef.
