Les Phares du Nord
Marché de la Poésie in Paris
In light of the ‘Les Phares du Nord’-year, an intensive campaign in which the Dutch and Flemish Foundations for Literature aim to achieve substantial growth in the number of literary translations into French as well as greater visibility for Dutch-language authors in France, over 100 authors will perform at French events. In 2018 they will perform at over twenty literary festivals in France, among which the Marché de la Poésie in Paris. From 6 until 10 June there will be performances by Dutch poets Maria Barnas, Alfred Schaffer and Henk van der Waal, among others.
Marché de la Poésie is an literary festival organized annually by publisher Jean-Michel Place. Every year poets from France and abroad gather at the Place Saint-Suplice in Paris in order to present their work to the audience. The festival takes place within the wider context of the Foire Saint-Germain, a theater festival that dates back to the Middle Ages. The poetry festival has invited the Netherlands as guest of honour for its 37th edition, in 2019.
