In August and September 2017 Mexican author Guadalupe Nettel will be working and living as a writer-in-residence in Amsterdam, upon invitation of the Dutch Foundation of Literature.
Guadalupe Nettel (Mexico, 1973) studied Spanish-language Literature at the University of Mexico and obtained a PhD in linguistics from the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris. She published four collections of short stories and three novels. Her work was awarded several prestigious literary awards, such as the Premio Herralde, and was translated in more than ten languages. She is seen as one of the best writers of her generation. Guadalupe Nettel lived in France for years but lives in Mexico-City again nowadays.
A Dutch translation of her novel El huésped was published in 2010 by publishing house Ailantus. In 2016 a translation of the novel Después del invierno came out at publishing house Signatuur. Both novels are translated by Arie van der Wal.
